9:00-10:15 Business Meeting (Concord QM and Western QM will meet in separate spaces)
10:30-11:15 Joint Worship (beginning with the Godly Play parable of the mustard seed)
11:30 – 12:30 Joint Program (Children’s programing provided)
12:30 pm Lunch - WCFM will provide grilled burgers, hot dogs, chicken
○ Concord QM Friends: please bring a side dish (salads, etc.)
○ Western QM Friends: please bring a side or dessert
Planting Seeds of Hope: How to Talk to Kids about Climate Change
Most young people today are already aware we are in the midst of a climate crisis. Climate change is taught in many schools, but even where climate change is not taught, our children hear about it in the news and on social media. High School Science teacher Bob Fest will present how to talk with children about climate change so that they feel heard and empowered to act to protect the planet they will inherit.
Bob Fest brings over 25 years of experience in teaching high school environmental science and biology to diverse student populations. He currently serves on the faculty of George School, where he teaches Field Studies, Environmental Justice, and Intensive Biology. He holds a Master of Science in Biology from the University of Nebraska and actively leads international field study programs for high school students, taking them to destinations like Uganda, Tanzania, Belize, the Brazilian Amazon, and Botswana.
Children and Youth Program: Children will have their own program that celebrates the earth and explore how they can use their voices to encourage earth care. Childcare will also be provided during the morning, including during meeting for business.
