Working for Peace, Working for Justice
For more than 100 years, American Friends Service Committee has engaged in Quaker action for a just world. Established by Friends in 1917 to identify service alternatives to prison for conscientious objectors, AFSC continues to work today for a just, peaceful, and sustainable world. In a time of heightened conflict here and across the world, Lewis Webb, Jr., AFSC’s Director of US Peace Building, will share his work with us.
Children’s Program: An Invitation to Young Friends to Join Quarterly Meeting
The morning will begin with all friends (from the youngest to the most seasoned) gathering in the meeting room at 10:00 to hear a Faith & Play story about Bayard Rustin, shared by Melinda Wenner Bradley. The story shares touchpoints of Rustin's life and how his witness to justice, peace, and equity formed with his spiritual leading to be his whole self.
After the story, the children will move to the annex for discussion. During the remainder of adult worship, young friends will celebrate the advent of spring and Earth Day 2024! There will planting and bird house building and other outside activities, which will continue through the AFSC program. We will all gather for lunch at 12:30.
Childcare will be available during the Quarter’s Business Meeting from 8:30 – 9:45, if needed. Please email Chris (CQM Coordinator) at concordquarter@pym.org no later than Friday, April 26 for your need for childcare.
